箱根登山鉄道線の箱根板橋駅を降りて、国道1号線沿いを箱根方面に歩くこと約2分。右手に見える白い木造建築がOTA MOKKOの工房とお店です。
1928年（昭和3年）に建てられたこの建物は、かつてこの地域が大窪村だった頃の村役場庁舎。小田原市になってからも大窪支所として活用され、2019年の閉館まで、地域の歴史をおよそ90年間も見守り続けました。

2021年の公募に伴い、地域の伝統工芸と職人文化を伝えるOTA MOKKOのスタジオとしてリニューアルしました。扉を開けた正面には、当時から変わらない木製カウンター。その向こうは多種多様な木材が積み上がり、木工機械たちに囲まれた、寄木細工の生まれる舞台が広がります。左側の村長室だった部屋は現在、寄木細工のショップとして、そして役場時代には戸籍や重要書類を仕舞っていたであろう奥の重厚な扉の倉庫は、大切な木材を保管する石蔵です。

Leave Hakone-Itabashi Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway Line and walk toward Hakone along National Route 1 for about two minutes. The white wooden building on the right is OTA MOKKO's studio and shop.

Built in 1928, this building was once the village office when this area was called "Okubo Village." It continued to be used as the Okubo Branch Office even after becoming part of Odawara City, overseeing local history for approximately 90 years until its closure in 2019.

As part of a public advertisement for tenants in 2021, it was renovated into OTA MOKKO's studio, aiming to convey the region's traditional crafts and artisan culture. Upon opening the door, visitors can see an unchanged wooden counter from that time. Beyond that, a variety of wood is stacked up, surrounded by woodworking machines, creating a stage where Japanese yosegi-zaiku is born. The room at left, which used to be the village mayor's office, now serves as the shop, and the sturdy doors at the back, which would have once stored registry documents and important papers during the office's days, now house a stone warehouse where valuable wood is kept.

The brown standing sign is a marker of the opening. Visitors are welcome to take a break on the chairs outside. Please come and enjoy a relaxing time.
